Alea (Ah-lee-ah)

Alea is the home of Almaria, the starting point of the global outburst. The beginning of it all.

Creation

In 150 BA, Barretto, the third brother 20 years after his exile. He built Alea for security and peace from the hate he received from his brother, Gilderan, in the human world. Alea was a sanctuary where He adopted many human children and gifted them his powers through a great ritual called "The Birthing of Gold". These were the first Rin Daimon to live in Alea and they were the only species living there until twenty years later (130 BA) when Barretto opened Alea to all, including humans at first.   Barretto used half of his entire reserves of power to create Alea. though, in reality, he was not creating a new world but opening a dimensional portal to one that already existed and was inhabited. Almaria as the old dwellers called it. Alea, its new name, was given to the continent that Barretto arrived upon once his spell had finished. Though this continent was all the brother initially knew he had entered into. He knew nothing of the three other continents that laid across what he named "The Alean Sea".   The original inhibitors of this world were not happy with their new arrivals. These were the Drairy, Rikoren and many other ancient species of Almaria. and this portal Barretto created allowed these people to travel to and from the Human world as well. Barretto and his disciples (or children) laid siege to the land, killing its original patrons and claiming the continent of Alea for themselves. The landscape was decimated by the rip in the dimension, and organic soil and plant life turned to solid stone. (ilk-stone) and the sky was darkened.   Barretto built the Great Palace, later renamed "Ilk-stone Palace" (100 BA), in the very centre of the continent, and the capital that he created and named Aborlaten, in the centre of the mountain reaches. This is where the kings and Queens of the Millenia would sit and rule from. The palace is made entirely from the incredibly solid stone that gives the palace its name. "Ilk-stone" was forged by everyone with the ability to weld it, into bricks and stones in order to build the main structure of the castle.

The four sectors

There are four countries that make up the continent of Alea Alea. These are not considered countries, however, they are known more commonly as "sectors".
  • Aborlaten ~ the largest sector, which is mostly city surrounded by mountains, not much wildlife survived here, only the ilk-trees that are not easily removed.
  • Silvia ~ The great spread of slums that stretch almost across the entire sector, apart from a small island in the centre (Isle of Silvia) home to the rich and powerful, with a huge observatory being its most attractive feature.
  • Delroy ~ The sector dedicated to Barretto's first son. This is a coastal sector and has many castles and old ruins destroyed in the great wars.
  • The Barren Lands ~ a mostly uncharted area of Alea home to the outlaws and creatures generally mentioned in horror stories rather than seen on the streets.

Monarchy

Alea is a continent-wide kingdom with one leading monarchy. This monarchy dates back to Alea's first creation, but the line of succession precedes even that. The Matriarchal line of Alea's throne started with Princess Roya, whose family ruled over the eastern kingdoms of the human world since before records were kept. She married the second brother, Hecreto the honourable, and his blood line is absorbed and mixed with hers. They do not become king and queen but instead rule as lord and princess, their three triplets are born: Orpheus, Drillen and Seren. Drillen dies in infancy but the other two boys grow up as little lords and nothing more. They are the first natural born Atu Daimon, however they were boys so were in no close line of succession for the throne. It was when their fifth child (after Azon the righteous) Erina, was born where Hecreto's bloodline became the direct line of succession for the eastern kingdoms. In Roya's family, females were prized much greater than males, as it was extremely rare for a girl to be born, Roya was only distantly related to the kings and queens but as she was a girl she was elevated to being princess based purely on that. It was said that if a girl was born under a full moon, she should immediately become queen. This such event happened with Erina's birth, sparking her ascent to being queen as soon as she old enough, Princess Roya becoming queen consort while she grows, her birth was celebrated with the annual celebration of Erina.    When Princess Roya died in the year 148 BA Erina and her husband Zeren become queen and king. Their son Zeren II was said to become king when Erina dies, as he was the eldest son, but when Zeren I poisoned his first son because of his learning difficulties, Gladus, their second son, would become king.   Gladus had a daughter, Zilda, so despite her being the second son, she knocks her older brother Linkan off the throne. The line continues on from her. Gladus's wife was Drillia, who was a direct descendent of the third brother, Barretto, being the daughter of his first son (or disciple) Delroy. When they married, Gladus moved to Alea, still ruling over the eastern reaches, but it was becoming whispered about that they were aiming to rule over Alea some day too. It is Zilda's daughter Millia, that makes this happen. While in Alea she speaks with her great great grandfather, Barretto who is by now nearing the end of his life. She says that because She is a direct descendent of Hecreto, who ruled the human realm, and of Baretto himself, she and her husband Rentin would be be the best option to take over the throne after Barretto's death. Barrette agrees and upon his death, the line of both Alea and the eastern reaches goes to Hecreto's bloodline. Unfortunately despite being the great negotiator of her people, Millia was killed tragically by Arisso in the year 0.   Arisso was the great disruptor of this line, and could have beenthe start of a new one but luckily he was stopped by the famous pair, Millia's third son Killian and the war hero D'artagnan. Most of the royal family were killed by Arisso, but Killian escaped and later thwarted him, becoming the righteous ruler of Alea after his defeat. Read more about Arisso in his separate article.   The line continued for a long long time without too much disturbance. The current ruler is King Lucean, son of the old king, read more about him in the linked article.

Geography

Mountains and rivers aplenty, consisting of four very different sectors, one desecrated by slums and pollution, one mostly forests and marshland, one absolutely packed with towns and cities and the last barren and dry with no apparent sign of moral life.   There are 27 Great Lakes of Alea, the most prominent of these being the lake of whispers (found in Barrow, Aborlaten) and the lake of souls (found in the chartered region of the Barrenwild)
as well as the four sectors, Alea has three islands surrounding it.
  1. Atu Island; belonging to Aborlaten and home of many Atu Daimon who feel that the mainland is too tainted by non Daimon.
  2. Isle of Rin; created by Finneron, Barretto's second son for him and his family to live. It is a part of Aborlaten, but is located beyond Silvia.
  3. Frey; a small and deserted (or thought to be) island off of the Barren Wilds. This is thought to be unclaimed territory, but is actually owned by Aborlaten as well.
