Transmission & Vectors

This condition is passed down the bloodlines... Certain families are known to produce more sensitive individuals, but they sometimes appear in populations semi-randomly, with examples both of father and son pairs of sensitives and of farmers on isolated villages suddenly casting fireballs when no sensitives were ever registered there... Needless to say when the latter happens the Inner Circle keeps its watchful eye open to said isolated village

Causes

This condition is believed to have first existed as a gift from the gods to humanity... now it is rightfully known as a possible curse.

Symptoms

The condition manifests itself upon the human mind at a young age... being visible by the simple fact that the toddler's will is physically and literally manifesting itself at semi-random intervals... such as a toy he or she didn't like bursting into flames, or water freezing solid so that he or she can pass on top of it.
As the afflicted ages the manifestations get worse and worse, at first happening within a small radius and with smaller objects but with the possibility of freezing over entire lakes or destroying buildings with fast winds when older. This will only get worse and worse until the afflicted's mind is ran over by the power he or she possesses, turning its mind into pure chaos... often needing more than one Master Alchemist of the circle to contain and eliminate it.

Treatment

Treatment of this condition is impossible after the afflicted passes the age of 10, only being curable by death.
However, should the afflicted be discovered before the age of 10 he or she can be trained at the art and science of alchemy by a brother from the Inner Circle, or any other order that found the afflicted. Alchemy, unlike the uncontrollable magicka used by the afflicted, is calculated and able to be used effectively by the afflicted without any unforeseen risks

Sequela

As stated above, a sensitive person will eventually turn mad with power, its mind turning into pure chaos.
However, should it be found and trained before the age of 10, there will not be any sequela caused by the condition itself.

Prevention

There is no way of preventing the condition from appearing within the populace.

History

There is no "first recorded case" of this condition, rather being a part of humanity's history since we can remember it.
However, it is only after the first few now almost extinct battle mages appeared that the condition began to cause madness, roughly -35 to -30 BK.

Cultural Reception

People with this condition are very often received with a mix of fear and prejudice amongst the lowlanders. However, should they be properly trained and become alchemists, they are normally viewed with a healthy mix of fear and reverence.
There are some places, especially within those of noble birth, where sensitive children are treated as royalty amongst the royals and their presence is swiftly picked by local alchemists, orders, guilds and other factions, especially the Inner Circle.
