Manger Mallacht attacks during the Festival of Gaieté, a 7 day celebration of music and dance. He traps the people and visitors of Chanteur within the palace walls for 5 days before a plot to escape is devised by honored guest Lady Lake and Arifa Songbird. Lady Lake earns the moniker, “An T-amhrán Catha” (the battle song) and begins using her signature violin in battle to cheer the people of Chanteur. Arifa Songbird and her husband Kiaan die at the hands of Manger Mallacht as a “gift” to Aajfe.
