Siberian Thunder Crane
Description
One of the most regal subspecies of all is the Siberian Thunder Crane. With their long necks of pure white they elegantly watch across their lands. Though they lay claim to mountains they can be far more often found in shallow marshlands across North East Asia.Morphology
Unlike their cousins that almost exclusively appear as grossly large Falcons and Eagles the Siberian Thunder Crane instead appear as great white cranes. These impressive creatures often stand over 10 feet tall and have wingspan of 15 feet. Much of this height is of course the neck and legs of the Thunder Crane of course though this radically different posture often gives their species a commanding presence. The feathers upon a Siberian Thunder Crane are almost entirely white, with the legs and beak of the creature being a dark umber or black. The head of the Siberian Thunder Crane is topped by a gorgeous red crest giving them the look of royalty.Abilities
Siberian Thunder Cranes do not possess any species specific abilities or powers. It should be noted however that due to the habitat in which many Siberian Thunder Cranes spend their time they will be far more likely to make use Atmospheric Manipulation. Many Thunder Cranes will use a vortex of water in order to blind and disorientate their opponents and prey. This is not strictly hydromancy as it is done using Atmospheric Manipulation, though Anomalous Security Personnel should be wary of such attacks.Behaviour and Psychology
There does not appear to be any abnormal behaviours or psychological traits for this Thunderbird species.Habitat & Diet
Siberian Thunder Cranes are found exclusively in North East Asia, dwelling on rarely seen rocky peaks. Often these rocky outcroppings are surrounded by marshland or shallow lakes. It is in such an environment that the Siberian Thunder Crane will thrive, being able to easily prey upon the large stocks of aquatic life in the area. For the most part Thunder Cranes will use their atmospheric Manipulation in order to force fish, amphibians, and small mammals to the surface of open water. In which from its regal towering position it shall swiftly strike at the now exposed prey. For larger prey the Thunder Crane will often create a vortex of water around its target. This spout of whirling water blinds and confuses, allowing the Thunder Crane to simply strut over and slay its catch with brutal efficiency. It is far more common to see Siberian Thunder Cranes in the act of a hunt than flying. Their imposing size results in their need to consume slightly more food annually than their cousins. This combined with their reliance on smaller prey does cause instances to hunt more often. It is in this hunting state that most Siberian Thunder Cranes are encountered. Unlike other sub species that hunt from the sky, the Thunder Crane will wade through the marsh or lake, searching for pockets of prey to pluck from the depths.Combat & Containment
Siberian Thunder Cranes do not require species specific Combat and Containment protocols.Footnotes
