Oceanic Thunder Bird
Description
The Oceanic Thunderbird has long been spotted by merchantmen and navy crews travelling North of Australia. Oceanic Thunderbirds are found across the litany of islands between Australia and the Asian continent.Morphology
Oceanic Thunderbirds are comparable in size to their more common cousins, holding a similar size and weight as the common Thunderbird. This however should not detract from their unique appearance however as Oceanic Thunderbirds sport a distinctly grey plumage. The most common comparison is drawn to that of the Pacific Baza, with which the Oceanic Thunderbird shares many physical traits. Much like their non anomalous counterparts the Oceanic Thunderbird has a uniquely shaped head that draws one's gaze to the eyes. Another striking feature is the crests that spout from either end of the Oceanic Thunderbirds brow, almost resembling overgrown eyebrows. These accompany a piercing yellow found in the large eyes of the entity, a striking appearance to be sure.Abilities
Oceanic Thunderbirds do not display any abnormal abilities or traits compared to others of their species. Though it should be noted they are more likely to be encountered at sea, Anomalous Security Personnel should be wary of Atmospheric Manipulation.Behaviour and Psychology
Though there are no great differences in behaviour and psychology for the species it has been noted that instances are more likely to travel between mountains across the Pacific Ocean and Oceania. The reason as to why has been hotly debated among anomalous researchers though it is believed that this is done as an act of migration in order to remain hidden from mortal humans. Oceanic Thunderbirds have often shown the ability to care for younger or injured Thunderbirds. Many tales tell of unwitting mortals being carried off to a roost of these Thunderbirds where they were sure to be fed to the young of such a mighty creature. Of course it should be noted that Thunderbirds reproduce via the Thunderbird Egg ritual. This has led to many researchers to deduce that perhaps the migratory behaviour of Oceanic Thunderbirds may be indicative of them searching for more of their kind.Habitat & Diet
Unlike other Thunderbird species the Oceanic Thunderbird is highly omnivorous, consuming both plants and animals. Though in most instances the amount of vegetation is far outweighed by animal protein intake. This is mainly due to the ease of obtaining large quantities of protein by hunting large animals. It should also be noted that due to the almost migratory nature of the Oceanic Thunderbird they are often found away from their mountain homes. In many instances Oceanic Thunderbirds will create a nest or roost atop the highest point in any given area. Often these temporary lodgings are camouflaged and hidden from prying mortal eyes. There have been recorded instances of such temporary nests holding multiple young Thunderbirds.Combat & Containment
Oceanic Thunderbirds have no subspecies specific combat and containment protocols.Footnotes
