Session 2: Under Hill and Over Hill (ˈsɛʃən 2: ˈəʊvə hɪl ænd ˈʌndə hɪl)

General Summary

“As the river bends and opens up into the expansive Cyrenloch, you… Feel the thrum of magic within your very bones, echoing from the core of the world. You taste the tang of iron on your tongue as a shiver travels down your spine. Ahead, as the lake widens, you see a collection of towering marble spires in a curtain wall of the same white stone, built on the lake’s edge. The waters are calm, here, and as you paddle calmly onward, you see a glimmer in the sky; a bright golden spark that alights in the air and vanishes like a sunburst. A moment later, the realisation strikes you. A magical ward. The City of the Guard, indeed.”
— The Dungeon Master
So. Last session, you ventured down into the depths of the Wandering Satyr; fought some elves, killed some elves, and unlocked a hidden passage within its depths, down which one of the Elves you had failed to slay fled. Returning to Yora, the Elven barkeep and proprietor of the inn, you, for lack of a better word, interrogated her for information. She admitted that she had been using the cellar and the passageway within to smuggle fine wines and other goods into and out of Ostford and the Wandering Satyr. Yet, some years before, the passage and what lay beyond had been seized from her by an unknown individual or organisation, she didn’t really know. Speaking with the Lawmaster, whom you now know to be Tath, she managed to lift your house arrest — allowing you to venture deeper into the earth and then out of the city. And so it happened.

Venturing deeper into the earth, down the previously-cleared passage, you came into an empty room, a cavernous space deep under the earth, with a river flowing through it. Clearly deserted, for the most part, you searched and came across some valuables, and eventually found a map, and a mysterious letter from an individual named The Lady. Who this is, you have no idea, but the letter did highlight a clue: the receiver or his people are expected in the Morning’s Dew, an inn in Tor Tirista, on the 14th of Fesstarin.

So, you took a boat, travelled by the underground river, and now find yourself bobbing gently in the Cyrenloch, seeing the sprawling city that is Tor Tirista rise on the lake’s shore. Yet: a magical ward is raised, something quite unusual, especially to Galadriel, who hails from there. That is where we left off. What do you want to do?
