The Tower of the Moon

Purpose / Function

Despite the Uendronei's (Moon wizards) excuses, it was obvious that they wanted to show off and make remodel their temple into a really cool tower/temple to attract attention and staunch the decline in their popularity. Tours are often conducted for a small fee, but people can go to most parts of the Tower without cost of any kind but the expensive air fee to fly to the Tower's remote location. Magic, technology, and much volunteer work go into making the Tower a relaxing place where people can enjoy peace, rest, and of course the Moon.

Design

Because of the ease of forming uendar into unique shapes, the magicians designed the tower to look elegant and smooth with hardly any sharp corners; something that would have been far more difficult to construct by normal means. Every wall is glossy silver that glitters in the moonlight, and every floor is an intricate mosaic made of pale grey tiles of varying opacities. In some places, streams and ponds run underneath one's feet with the tiles acting as stepping stones. The entire tower is a work of art.

Entries

Because the Tower is open to the public and magic ensures that no bacteria will grow and no pesky bugs will bite within the Tower, the number of paned windows or doored archways is extremely few. The Tower has more holes than a slice of swiss cheese, and there are multiple balconies on each level.

Sensory & Appearance

Because of the location of the Tower, the Moon and night rarely depart; however, there is rarely a need for light due to the brightness of the Moon and the abundance of windows. But when light is needed, the Tower has a reserve of small balls that almost appear to be made of light. These balls create a soft but far-reaching and gradient light that hardly seems to affect the darkness of the night while still lighting up one's path and nearby surroundings. Most often these balls are placed into lanterns that the Uendar of the Tower is programmed to form around them when a ball is held in a certain place in the ceiling or on the end of a pole that can become a lamp. Many famous musicians are invited to come to the Tower to play soft and soothing music that floats throughout the building. And just in case no musicians are currently available, the Tower has its own choir and small orchestra that will play. The air of the Tower is always comfortably cool and damp, and it smells of moss and lavender.

Denizens

A small permanent band of Uendronei live in the Tower to devote their life to the Moon and to ensure the Tower's upkeep and cleanliness, but most of the work is done by changing shifts of volunteers from other Uendronei temples.

Contents & Furnishings

Dotted throughout the tower are benched of all shapes and sizes along with several beds and hammocks. There are also several small tables and ornamental ledges where flower vases and pots are placed with fresh silver, white, and pale purple flowers.

Valuables

For a while, the original Uendar was kept in the Tower, but it was later moved to a safer location.

Special Properties

The temple is infused with Moon magic so that the air is comfortably cool and breathable despite the extreme altitude, and when the Moon is directly over the temple, a mosaic lights up and fills with magic that is rarely used for anything besides being placed in a fancy pendant to put in display.

Alterations

There was nothing wrong with the old temple, but because the Uendronei knew that they could do it easily, they added lots of elegant and extravagant terraces, pillars, statues and gardens to increase the appeal of the temple.

Architecture

There are many tall windows with long, elegant white curtains along with countless balconies with graceful curving rails and mosaic tiled floors. Straight along the center of the building is an open skylight designed to illuminate a fancy design on the floor when the Moon is directly above it. There aren't really many useful places for anything but sleeping, reading, or thinking, but it must be admitted that it is a very beautiful place.
