Tinkers Guild Organization in Agghorion | World Anvil

Tinkers Guild

The Tinkers Guild is a guild of Artificers, Tinkerers, and Enchanters with a headquarters located in Harsney. This guild is led by a council of 5 inventors who decide if a Tinker is of sufficient quality to bear the mark of the guild. Many fledgling tinkers fear their admission interview because the council is known to be incredibly difficult to please. More than 80% of applicants are denied membership to the guild.   Due to the low admittance rate Guild Fees and Guild Dues are extraordinarily higher than other guilds. The average Guild Fee is 250 gold pieces and the average Guild Dues are between 30% and 45% of all sales.   Outside of taxation protection, the Tinkers Guild also provides physical protection for its members. Each member of the guild is provided two personal bodyguards that escort them on their travels or one personal bodyguard if they own a brick and mortar shop.

Structure

The council of 5 Inventors is in charge of maintaining new members, Guild Dues, protection for existing members, and must oversee any charges brought against members. Due to the high-stress nature of these positions, the 5 Inventors choose to remain anonymous.

Public Agenda

Buy, sell, and trade goods to those with coin.

History

Formation:

The Tinkers Guild was founded in Luxury, 62 by a group of 5 gnomes who were sick of being taxed for selling their inventions. These 5 gnomes were approached by many traveling merchants who wished to join their newly formed guild, but they refused to take any common peddler of wares. When approached by Artificers, Tinkers, and fellow Inventors, the Tinkers Guild decided to create an entrance interview to weed out any who they thought were unworthy of the guild. Eventually, the guild grew large enough that simply bearing the symbol of the Tinkers Guild would make you a worthy tradesman. To this day, the tradition of 5 Inventors leading the guild exists.

Conflicts:

The Tinkers Guild has faced very few conflicts over its many years of existence. Those in the guild are likely to state that this lack of conflict is due to the rigorous interview process that potential members must undergo.   In 1331 the Tinkers Guild's members engaged in a holdout over the high Guild Dues the guild had been charging. After a year, those that held out were victorious. The Guild Dues were reduced from 50% to 65% down to the current 30% to 45%.

Modern Initiative (1334- Present)

Since 1334 the Tinker's Guild has been attempting to manufacture firearms. They have made some significant progress in this endeavor and are close to developing a danger-free prototype.

If we can't fix or build it, its not worth your coin.
