Temple of the Twelve
One of the oldest and most prominent buildings in Hilltop , this temple is dedicated to the Passions as they were before the Scourge. It is a tall, domed, stone structure with numerous smaller chambers surrounding the central vault.
After the Scourge, explorers searched the temple and discovered that while the pre-Scourge statues still stood, the statues of the Mad Passions had been altered subtly, reflecting their insanity in ways hard to pinpoint but impossible to ignore. These unsettling statues and the remains of survivors that had been slaughtered by Horrors lead to tales of the temple being haunted.
Most Namegivers, including the Force of the Eye , avoid the temple as a result.
Purpose / Function
Once a temple to the Twelve Passions, it is now considered a haunted ruin.
History
Originally, the temple was a small group of wooden shrines which passing merchants could use for worship. It was replaced with the stone structure as the permanent population of pre-Scourge Kratas grew. Space was a premium on Hilltop so the followers decided to share the space, developing rituals that paid homage to the Passons collectively as opposed to one's favorites.
After the expansion of the city, the temple fell into disuse in favor of the temples built in the Temple Plaza. The Temple of the Twelve was still used in times of trouble or unrest, so was never totally abandoned.
After the fall of the Dome, a band of survivors barricaded themselves in, but were slaughtered after Horrors pretending to be the Passions were allowed inside.
