Illanthar
The Jewel in the Crown of Agartha. Peace, serenity, knowledge and faith embodied in a city and its peoples. Home to the College of the White as well as the High Temples of Falon and Aphrodite it is a place of utter, breathtaking beauty. Yet behind the impeccably polished facade there exists a world of ongoing power struggles and political intrigue.
Geography
Illanthar is perched atop a clifftop overhang overlooking the ocean. Almost defying the laws of nature in its positioning and scale its evident even to the uneducated that some form of magic maintains safety in its location. Intended to inspire awe approaching the city from either land or sea requires the traveler to raise their heads to the sky to take in the full scope of what is arrayed before them.
Fauna & Flora
The pure white of the city is broken up frequently by ornately maintained parks and gardens. Species of plants from across Agartha itself are meticulously maintained within them using elemental magics to replicate native conditions.
Natural Resources
Illanthar is surrounded on its outskirts by orchards and vineyards, the clean cool ocean air providing perfect growing conditions for such crops. The city itself relies on imports of basic goods from trade across the alliance and maintains its almost limitless wealth with the export of luxury goods and knowledge and by donations to the temples and colleges of magic.
At the base of its clifftop perch sheltered within a significant natural cove Illanthar is supported by a vast deep water trading port. Illanthars own fishing fleet takes advantage of the bountiful waters and passage to the city is achieved by a series of magically enhanced cliff lifts.
