After Earth

A world existing long after any trace of humanity is gone.   In a galaxy far away a conflict surrounding a large network of planets has come to a boiling point. An alliance has formed, spanning so far even planets who aren't quite aware of what they have signed up for have joined in the name of creating peace across the galaxy. But the leaders are a mystery, and the true intentions of the organization unknown.   The star of the story, a being named Ebili who has never left the caves they grew up in, leaves their planet to help the alliance in the name of the clan they're leaving behind. But as they navigate culture shock, homesickness, and their new job and home aboard an alliance-owned space ship, they quickly learn the alliance isn't all it's cracked up to be.   Between the constant unexplained secrecy and absence of the alliance's leaders, the lack of clear direction in their goals and how those goals will be reached, and the slow and mysterious disappearance of the alliance's funds, something has either gone deeply wrong or was never right to begin with.   The leader of the ship they travel on is hiding something, and they intend to find out what.
