Toraya

Toraya is the name of the large continent directly to the south of Ostenhor, with a much more tropical / humid climate. Basically oriental. Like Ostenhor the vast majority of inhabitants are human, and historians argue over which continent humans first originated from (they almost unanimously agree it was on this side of the world though). Both are comparable in terms of technology though some say Toraya has the edge in urban development.
Unlike citizens of mainland Ostenhor they tend to forgo traditional religion and god worship in favor of spiritualism and finding value through secular self-improvement. This is primarily due to the actions of the Kabronian empire, whose religious crusades in the name of Oen ravaged most of its traditionally peaceful and small scale communities before its leader, Aivak Kabron, was righteously slain by a man claiming to have a connection to the divine spirits of the land. Thus began the "renaissance" of the Torayan people, who prospered thanks to the influence of the divine man, Ioh Shanto, and his descendants with similar power. He went on to found the first official civilization of Shantou, the largest nation in Toraya.
As a result of this history (dating back about 700-900 years ago) many rulers that have claimed right to nations and fiefs have some sort of sorcery in their bloodline, and Toraya in general is very open to use of magic, particularly nature based. The divide between innate magic users and non-innate almost acts like a class divide in the most extreme cases.
Shantou's ruler is known as the Khan, and their empire as the Khanate.
