Session 6: Trials of the Dead Pt 2
General Summary
After meeting the Keeper of Lore the party is tasked with completing several trials to retrieve the true name of The False Beast. Each Keeper carrying a word of power that would weaken the False Beast and prepare the adventurers' minds for The Abyss. They are to complete The Trial of Song given by the Keeper of Creation: Kilyn Farris and The Trial of the Dead given by the Keeper of Graves: Cailu Norqen, before returning to the Keeper of Lore for the final word.
Heading down the east road of the abandoned village the party notices a temple surrounded by a murky pond and they enter for the first trial. While the others go inside Keegan searches for Ruffle's arm in the pond before being dragged down into a deeper section underwater. He discovers sunken buildings and skeletons buried in the seabed. He finds Ruffle's arm but it disintegrates and Keegan is pulled into a past memory of Ruffle who's real name is Merdal. Ruffle and his lover Ema were killed by a stone giant king by the name of Loam who burned down their village. Keegan recovers from this vision after Trixie pulls him from the pond. Ruffle now has a third gem piercing his skull.
The party successfully completes The Trial of Song and Graydon takes on the first word of power but suffers 10 Madness Points.
After a short rest, the party heads off to complete the next trial when they notice all the ghosts heading in the same direction. They also notice the skeleton in the cowboy hat digging five holes inside the graveyard as they enter.
They greet the Keeper of Graves and enter combat.
