The Grimhills

The Dunes

The Grimhills are a series of huge sand dunes in the Grim desert. 
The entire desert is know for its inhospitable environment and lack of life in its environment.  The only settlement in the desert, is the settlement of Grimville, which situated near the river that splits Atherus into two.  
There are no animals or creatures to be found in the Grimhills are known for the amount of deaths of adventurers that occur in the deserts.
It isn't uncommon for there to be huge sandstorms that can change the entire dunes themselves, changing the landscape dramatically after a single storm. Fully charting the desert is incredibly difficult and many have claimed it to be impossible.
Some people also say that the deserts are corrupted by the Dead Wastes, a marshland on the opposite side of the river. Some say the many dead spirits of soldiers in the marshes have that much power that they can affect the desert itself.
