Zephyr's Tundra
An arctic tundra within the country of Norbre. Zephyr's Tundra was named after Zephyr, the deity of weather, storms, wind and the sky. The tundra is most commonly known for its abundance of natural disasters and storms. Few reside here, except for a group of Zephyr worshippers called the Eye of the Storm. The group has built many shelters across the tundra for travellers to rest during a storm.
Geography
Zephyr's Tundra is an arctic tundra covered in snow and ice. Hills line the land, with most having small shelters built atop them by the Eye of the Storm members. Aetherium's largest mountain: Mt. Polaris, resides near the edge of the tundra. It's said to be where the deity Zephyr lives.
Ecosystem
Little grows in Zephyr's Tundra, the freezing temperatures simply not enough to sustain plant life. Dead grass covers the ground where snow doesn't. Herbivores snack on moss and lichen found on rocks, herbs that grow in Winter and an elusive flower that grows only in Zephyr's Tundra: the Sleeping Blizzard. Carnivores eat small herbivores, or fish found in the ocean near the edge of the tundra.
Localized Phenomena
Zephyr's Tundra is mostly known for its bizarre amount of natural disasters. Blizzards, hail storms, earthquakes and avalanches are most common, but occasionally the area will deal with thunderstorms and tornados.
Climate
Zephyr's Tundra is constantly at frigid temperatures.
Fauna & Flora
Many herbs sustain the tundra's cold temperatures, such as sage, thyme and mint. Moss and lichen are known to grow on rocks. A rare flower known as the Sleeping Blizzard will sometimes grow under a patch of snow. Few humanoid life choose to live in the tundra, but animals are quite a common sight. Arctic foxes, hares, wolves, snow owls, snow leopards and polar bears can be found on land, while seals, whales and multiple fish species live in the water near the edge of Zephyr's Tundra.
Natural Resources
Not much can be found in Zephyr's Tundra. Those who brave the harsh weather mostly come looking for herbs.
History
Zephyr's Tundra was once a golden field called Lirenfor by the Starborn. A small farming village used to reside in the fields, the name of that village now lost to time. Things changed when the deity of earth, Ajax, built Mt. Polaris. Zephyr took up residence at the mountain's peak, but his presence affected the once-prospering fields, turning it into a frigid wasteland. Lirenfor was then called Zephfor by the Starborn, and still is today, despite now being given the universal name of Zephyr's Tundra.
Tourism
Tourism is far from common in Zephyr's Tundra. Those who visit tend to be adventurers or worshippers of Zephyr.
