The Ballad of the Shepherd
Verse 1 Once there was a shepherd true, Who loved his flock the long night through. The wolves came down, their teeth so white, He fought them back ‘til morning’s light.
Chorus Oh, Shepherd brave, with staff in hand, He walks alone through misty lands. The stone trees grow, the spirits cry, He’ll find the way, though years go by.
Verse 2 Coda came, her cloak so black, To take the soul she’d never give back. But he saw love, not fear nor pain, And begged to walk by her side again.
Chorus Oh, Shepherd brave, with staff in hand, He walks alone through misty lands. The stone trees grow, the spirits cry, He’ll find the way, though years go by.
Verse 3 The forest rose, the path grew wrong, The spirits lost, their wails a song. They turned to demons, dark and wild, And cursed the Shepherd’s once-kind smile.
Chorus Oh, Shepherd brave, with staff in hand, He walks alone through misty lands. The stone trees grow, the spirits cry, He’ll find the way, though years go by.
Verse 4 Now he roams, both night and day, To end the trees and clear the way. A lonely task, his heart so sore, He’ll not see Coda 'til nevermore.
Final Chorus Oh, Shepherd brave, with staff in hand, He walks alone through misty lands. The stone trees grow, the spirits cry, He’ll find the way, though years go by.
Forgotten Verse (Whispered) But deep within the forest stone, The Shepherd will fall, afraid, alone. No voice to guide, no light to see, Forgotten by his god and thee.
