Prompts #22 a renowned pirate, highwayman, criminal – The Jaguar, Pet Assassin and Traitor
Darcinda discovered her drunken, drug-addicted parents had shaken her colicky baby brother, Frisk to death. She had killed them brutally, and the pain had stopped. She had then gone next door for a sleep-over with the neighbor as she was supposed to that night, but not before taking a crowbar to the back door and removing all the drugs and money from the house.
The police told her men had broken into her home and killed her family while she was at the sleepover. Only her lord knew the truth, it had been her. The day Frisk died was the day her heart stopped beating. Lord Damien Neimad had her taken to a special school, a school for a special group of children, the descendants of his brother Karstien.
He had trained Darcinda, or Darcy as she preferred to be called sometimes, to become an assassin then he personally took over her training. She was one of the few who knew he was one of two semi-immortals living on Terrearth. The side effect of being exposed to dark magic energy caused Darcy to have repeated episodes of cancer. She was blindly loyal to him, killing many without mercy or hesitation until she met Daisy Cullen (later Cane) and made her first true friend. Daisy treated Darcy like a sister and shared everything with her. When Damien killed Daisy’s children, Darcy’s godsons, her attitude toward him changed and she realized only Daisy’s unique brain could figure out a way to kill Damien forever. Eventually the spy/double agent sickened to the point she could not be cured and took it on herself, as her last mission, to destroy many of Damien’s assets.
Damien often called her the daughter of his heart and in response, she would always ask whose heart he cut out to have one.

From Allies and Enemies…
Darcy watched the feed of the interrogation. She quickly tracked the source of the false credentials. She didn’t know the man, but she knew who sent him. She had a very special errand to run, someone to find before the Security Director Sam Stone did, and maybe she’d pick up some ice cream and yellow flowers on her way home. She smiled, just like old times, but she’d changed sides now, and she hoped Frisk and Danny were proud of her. She missed Daisy, but those days of being her friend were long over. Daisy never knew Darcy was Damien’s pet assassin, only that she worked as an indoor horticulturist contracted with Neimad Global and helped Daisy spy on D. Adam Neimad.
As she rode the ferry back to the mainland, Darcy remembered how she had sat back in her desk chair in disbelief on the day she discovered the truth about Lord Damien’s monkeys.
She had been alone on the second to top floor of Neimad Global’s International headquarters. Her office was directly below her Lord’s, but he wasn’t upstairs. He would be angry if he knew her computer was a ghost of his, recording every keystroke he made, every document and email, and every word he spoke. She had been intrigued by a group of encrypted files named ‘My Brother’s Children, My Army’.
Lord Uthur of the Pendragon, brother of King Ambrosius…
Uther, second son of Lord Constantien, called the Dragon king.
Constantien, third son of King Asrien, and Chalandra, Lady of the Blades.
Asrien, youngest son of Second Queen Urielle and King Asgoro,
Asgoro, Youngest son of second wife, Queen Geneva and King Arturo,
Arturo, only son of High Lord Karstien of the Western Kingdom and Lady Cupa of the Green Kingdom.
As far as she had known, Karstien had only one child many millennia ago, but now everything about that information had changed. Karstien’s only son had lived almost 1200 years. The file revealed Arturo had four wives, nineteen children, 51 grandchildren, and 71 great-grandchildren before his death. It was amazing and Darcy suspected that Arturo’s mother was not completely human. According to the genealogy reports, every one of her lord’s ‘children’ was a descendant of his brother’s only child, including herself.
The documents explained why she could do things others couldn’t, and why Damien treated her differently. She was King Arturo’s most direct descendant. It meant that Karstien was her many times great-grandfather, making Damien her uncle. Damien Adam Neimad had spent generations grooming his brother’s children into an army to use against him and the world. Not that she cared about that, but it still had unnerved her to discover that hidden layer to her lord’s agenda.
Darcy took her ghost copy and left, so she could go over the rest of the documents at home.
After her ‘little errand’, Darcy parked her Suzuki Hayabusa in the parking garage of her building. It was an old warehouse she had converted into luxury apartments. In her stylish black and white apartment, the only color she allowed was a vase of yellow flowers over her mantle and a pair of throw pillows, one green with a yellow strip and one blue with two pink stripes on her bed. After showering the blood off, she changed into a simple green tee-shirt with a single yellow stripe and matching yoga pants. Then placed all the shoes from her closet floor in a bin, opened the hidden door, and climbed down into her underfloor sanctuary. She had a small section of the floor below her apartment between two apartments, and not on any blueprint. It was a simple, hidden space for her to forget who she was.
In the hidden room, it was black except for a central light over a golden flowered sofa on a fluffy green rug, and her art, an antique pie cupboard served as a bar. On the clear glass table were books on flowers, and along one wall, hung prints of yellow flowers, artistically lit from above. There was a single, small shelf holding a worn, white goat plushy and a small blue urn with two pink stripes, it contained her brother Frisk. A slightly larger green urn contained Daisy’s sons, Benny and Danny. She poured herself a drink of absinthe, vanilla simple syrup, and cream, then she went to stand before one of the framed prints. It was a single yellow flower made up of a small child’s handprints on black paper, tiny green footprints made up the stem and two leaves.
She remembered the day she had made it with her second Frisk, who was actually Daisy’s youngest son Danny. He had trusted her completely and obeyed perfectly, as she held him over the black paper with his paint-wet feet. Then he had carefully and perfectly placed every yellow handprint exactly where she wanted it. Daisy and Benny had tried to do the same, but they had ended up wearing as much paint as they got on the paper, it was a fiasco. Danny had been so good and so careful that he didn’t even get any paint on the blue and pink striped shirt and short set she had bought for him for his birthday. The only paint that Darcy had gotten on her, was the simple smiley face Danny had drawn on her cheek in yellow. When she was with Danny, she let her heart beat once again, he was her little brother Frisk come back to her.
Danny had been born with a harelip, which two surgeries had corrected, but he had spoken with a lisp. It made him very shy about talking to people, but his mother’s old friend Darcy was his favorite person in the world, and it made her happy to hear him sing for her. He had sung it to her every day of the whole week she had visited. Daisy had surprised her with a ‘not-your-birthday’ birthday party, which included her favorite flavor of ice cream cake, butterscotch pie. Teasingly, Daisy insisting that since she wasn’t visiting on her birthday, she would just have to share a birthday with the twins. What Daisy didn’t know was that the twins shared their birthday week with her lost little brother Frisk.
Darcy’s mind flashed to the first moment she had held little Danny.
She snuck into the maternity ward, because her lord ordered the research analyst killed for refusing to come to work for him. It was a petty reason. But as soon as Daisy saw her, she had hugged Darcy so hard her bobbed, brown wig had fallen off. Daisy brushed her fingers gently over Darcy’s bald scalp and the tattooed golden flower that sat over her left ear.
“You’re still shiny,” Daisy said. “What are you doing here?”
“Well, I save a lot on shampoo since I had cancer.” Darcy shrugged, continuing the lie for why she kept her head shaved. “I was upstairs for a follow-up and saw Nora leaving. I’m still in remission so I’m free to eat all the ice cream I want. Why are you delivering here instead of in Jonstown?”
They both laughed, then Daisy pushed her down into a chair and put Danny in her arms. “General’s orders, in case I had complications... Danny boy, this is your Auntie Darcy, Mommy’s oldest friend. And this is Benny.” Daisy held up the other baby.
When Darcy looked down at Danny, she saw Frisk for a moment, same sweet face and same little pucker pulling up the center of his lips, and her heart actually beat again. It hurt a little bit and she shed a single tear of joy. “He’s beautiful, Daisy.”
A rude nurse came in, and demanded, “Who are you? Why don’t you have a visitor badge? The maternity ward is a restricted area.” The nurse tried to take Danny, “Why are you holding Mrs. Cane’s deformed son?” The implication that Danny or Frisk was imperfect in any way, ignited a cold hatred in Darcy and she glared silently at the woman, planning a thousand horrible ways to murder her.
Daisy came to Darcy’s defense, snarling savagely and shoving the nurse away from Darcy, “If my friend wants to come downstairs and hold my child between cancer treatments and follow-ups, she can!” then Daisy insulted the woman by pointing out, “As a nurse, you should have a little bit of compassion or change careers. Now get out or I’ll have your license for threatening a patient and mocking another’s child for having a treatable genetic trait!”
The nurse stared at Darcy’s baldness and wig laying on the bedside table and stammered something about not knowing there was another way down from the cancer center upstairs before she rushed out.
A different nurse brought Darcy a visitor pass and apologized for the rude one. While Darcy held Danny, Daisy excitedly told her about her new project and research. Darcy just nodded with a practiced bemused expression, pretending she didn’t understand.
Later that night, Darcy broke into Daisy’s home lab and copied all the new research.
Her lord had not been happy that Darcy had not just killed the difficult Dr. Daisy Cane as ordered but saw the value of her new research and agreed that as long as Darcy could get the information he wanted, that Dr Cane was more valuable alive than dead. One week after Daisy and the twins were home from the hospital, Darcy had brutally murdered the nurse who had insulted baby Danny, her second Frisk.

Two weeks after that, Dale had not even visited his sons, blaming Daisy for Danny’s birth defect, and saying such horrible things that Daisy had been reduced to tears. His Aunt Nora had revealed that Dale’s brother Keith had been born with the same problem. So, when her lord sent her to kill everyone on the Isla Eagla Cretaceous Research island, Darcy made sure the abusive, philandering husband of her friend died a particularly gruesome and violent death. She even splashed him with healing potions, so his death would take longer, and before he finally died, she whistled and made the raptors back away. She knelt in front of Dale and revealed who she was, his eyes open wide in fear as he recognized her. Darcy calmly informed him that he would never hurt Daisy or her children again. He had beat on the glass of the containment room and shouted some nonsense about trying to protect her. Then with a snap of her fingers, four young Genosaur microraptors torn Dale apart and partially ate him.
A year later, when Darcy visited for the twins’ birthday, she was giving them giant dinosaur-shaped teething gummies when she joked about hoping Dale ended up as a dino-snack, and Daisy sputtered a laugh. Dale’s Aunt Nora had not found it amusing. She did not like Daisy’s strange, bald friend, but Darcy Weber was Daisy’s oldest companion, so she said nothing about the horticulturist in the reports she sent monthly to General Taylor. Now that Taylor was rumored to be dead, Nora would have to protect Daisy and her children on her own. Nora didn’t know that Darcy knew who and what she really was, a retired agent assigned to protect Daisy.
Darcy finished her drink and opened the card, listening to her second Frisk singing again. Tomorrow she would be back at Epoch Research Industry to help and protect those for Daisy and plotting her continued sabotage of her lord.
Lord Damien Neimad had visited his followers here. He looked younger, the darkness in him greater. Darcy watched as Damien lied about the Nebulae being his way of returning and bringing a kingdom of power for them all to share. The stupid monkeys believed it. She smirked, thinking of how Davin called Damien’s followers stupid monkeys too.
She was a jaguar hunting them and protecting those Daisy cared about. She was doing it for her Frisk and Danny and her lord never suspected his most loyal daughter.
Those stupid monkeys don’t realize Damien is a dragon and is going to devour them all.
