Kerulisan

Once, Kerulisan was a powerful nation, whose naval fleets were among the strongest. They were famed for both their skill at the waves and the powerful industry they developed through intense, sprawling forges and mines. It was a common saying that Kerulisan was more hollowed out than the Underdark in its heyday. When the Cataclysm struck, the population fled into the mines and caves to shelter. Many of them pushed too deep, losing their way and never resurfacing with the others; the early decades were spent in the creation of the Arksafe Fleet at their largest port city, which was never heard of after setting sail. Now, they work to survive in a hostile land where their once-great strengths have been taken away.

Geography

Primarily sprawling grasslands, Kerulisan is split by a number of mountain ranges which divide it in half. The Splits came into existence during the Cataclysm, while The Keeprise almost doubled in length, destroying much of the terrain which had laid in its line. The north-west is surprisingly green, with nature having worked to reclaim much of the abandoned land. The further east one travels, the arider it becomes, beginning to shift into desert once Heldock  is passed. The southern coastline and region are regularly cloaked in ice and snow, though it tends to be thin and sporadic.

Fauna & Flora

The western area of the continent is still green, and though it's rich with flora, much is inedible or tainted by the refuse of collapsed industry. As one travels east, the flora becomes somewhat purer yet scarcer as well, ultimately leading to the dead desert. However, to the south, rich and dense plant life can be found in the frost-ridden south.   Fauna is similarly affected; twisted and poisoned in the west, many species have developed venomous capabilities. To the east and south, species become hardier and more durable as their environment changes, with sizes increasing to the south in particular.

Natural Resources

The continent was known for its rich deposits of ores beneath the surface, and Kerulisan was often said to have more tunnels and caves than the Underdark at the height of its industry. As a result, large stores of many ores and gems were traded by the fleets, including valuable stones such as marble and granite. Fine machinery and other components, such as wheels, rails and ingots, were produced and shipped out. Certain rare pelts were also hunted; the species were monitored and sustained, reserved for visiting royalty only due to both rarity and ferocity.

History

Pioneers of oceanic travel, Kerisulian fleets were capable of sailing and surviving in any weather. On land, their industry was of similar fame; developments and advances that were pressing the boundaries of technology. Magic could fulfil many advanced needs, but Kerulisan was pushing the physical bounds of what was capable. The Cataclysm drove them into the mines and caverns under their lands to survive; some pushed too far, and lost the way back when they surfaced. Much of their advances, however, were then lost to time and Cataclysm; with much of their agricultural regions destroyed, the construction of the Arksafe Fleet took precedence, creating a number of ships which were self-sustaining in population. Once launched, all contact was lost with the ships shortly after.

Tourism

Travel to Kerulisan can occur, with the primary locations available for oceanic arrival being Hullwarmth and Heldock. Within Kerulisan, a number of locations are commonly travelled to, such as Kilnholm or Rimefrost Keep for example.
