Tip of the Iceberg

General Summary

After dealing with the giant spider, the party clears the tunnels of a handful of Gorria members and captures their ringleader, Clarg. Dragging him back to Freemont, the party receive the thanks of a grateful Lord Mayor and payment for their troubles. They've also found a strange glowing blue orb. They only know that the orb is magical, and capable of enormous destructive power.   Cassius sends a carrier pigeon back to the city of Karis with an encrypted message.   Once back in town, the team is approached by a woman named Lucy, who asks if they found any prisoners while they were fighting the Gorria. She is searching for her son, David, who went to try to deal with the miscreants weeks earlier and hasn't been seen since. Although she offers the team her life savings, Akin tells her to keep her money and promises to find David for her.   The Lord Mayor also offers the team 12 gold pieces each to investigate strange lights that have been seen to the southwest. The job is just a fact-finding mission, and is not expected to be dangerous.   Taking the opportunity to interrogate Klarg, the team learns the whereabouts of the Gorria's stronghold in the region. He also seems to be aware that Artheon is sorcerer, and tells him that an eye is watching him. He also sketches an image of the coat of arms marking the stagecoach that was transporting the glowing blue orb to Karis when the Gorria stole it. Cassius recognizes the symbol as belonging to the Ilargia museum, an enormous storehouse of ancient artifacts in the city, founded and supported by the wealthy Ilargia family.   Deciding to go back to the caves to look for David, the team is surprised to find that the Gorria seem to have sent reinforcements, who are quite a bit tougher than the idiots they faced before. After exploring the caves a bit further, the team finds David and a dozen other captives. After dealing with the reinforcements, the captives are freed. The team now has a dozen non-combatants in their custody…
