The N'Djinn

Sometimes referred to as simply the "Djinn", the N'Djinn are believed to be a progenitor race of beings that preceded even the gods. They are sometimes described as the creators or the parents of the Aia, and were the first to discover magic. Other times, they are described has a mortal race, similar to humans and elves, but who inhabited Aeryth in the earliest days.

The myth of the N'Djinn is widely known throughout the Tranquil Coast and the Peleset Archipelago. In addition to humans, dwarves, halflings, and orcs also have traditions surrounding the N'Djinn.

Variations & Mutation

Some cultures have rumors that the N'Djinn still exist as ethereal spirits. In several traditions, wizards or powerful magicians are able to bind an N'Djinn into their service.

Cultural Reception

In many of the cultures in which myths about the Djinn exist, they are revered as wise and powerful figures, oftentimes participating in the creation of the world or the individual races. The clear exception to this attitude is the orcs. According to many orc clan traditions, the Djinn are corrupt primordial figures who had to be overcome by the orcs themselves in order to clear the way for the current world.
