Deep ones
Also known as the dalam bayan by the Peleset islanders, the deep ones are said to be monsters that live under the ocean. Ancient Pelesetters reportedly sacrificed their children to the. deep ones by leaving them to die of exposure on the shores at night. According to some versions of the myth, the deep ones would take human children as an offering, turning them into deep ones themselves. The myth is particularly popular in the more remote northern islands of the archipelago, where some of the old traditions are rumored to still be practiced.
