A world of old gods and failing magic, where seasons seem to stretch on for years. Each cycle of seasons the practitioners of the old magics seem fewer and the creators of artifice and machinery rise to fill the gap. Coalitions and kingdoms of Elves, Dwarves, Halflings and Humans build highwalled cities and stoke ever-burning fire pits to stave off the chill of the miniature ice ages that serve as this worlds winter period.   However even the warmer years are not safe, monsters prowl the dark. Terrifying beasts and unnameable ancient gods that wish to sate themselves on the flesh, blood and soul of those that wall themselves in cower in the safety of their flickering flames light.
