Kher Mar

Kher Mar is an island on which the Elinnic Empire is centered. It is a large, geographically diverse place with plenty of fertile agriculture, mountains and mineral resources, and forests, as well as a diverse animal population. Its location between the north and south halves of the continent makes it central to coastal trade.

Geography

Kher Mar is a volcanic island with a network of small mountains interspersed with river valleys and fields. Because it has enough coastal real estate to build cities and towns, the jinn found it suitable for settlement - particularly because no other peoples had settled it at that point. There are eight major river systems, the largest of which supports the uplands region of Kher Mar. One of theses systems supports the capital city of Zakhara at its delta.

Natural Resources

Kher Mar is a fertile island rich in minerals and agriculture. Its primary resources are quarried stone and mined ores, with a lesser but still significant source of timber. It has enough farmland to provide its peoples with foodstuffs and livestock, but not to export foodstuffs abroad. Furthermore, the wider world has not been settled enough to make a dense trade network in foodstuffs necessary.
