The Shadowguard of Saint Sullivan

Those paladins that take up the Oath of the Moon rarely become household names, and even when they do, the legends of their deeds are never tied to their true identities. Sometimes called twilight knights, masked knights, or hooded knights, these paladins are bound to an oath of secrecy. They work in the shadows, fighting for justice while hiding their true identities. These paladins believe fame and glory to be a double-edged sword that invites disaster as often as it promises rewards. By concealing their identities, they keep themselves, their friends, and their families safe from retribution, and ensure that their plans and equipment don't fall into the wrong hands.   The Shadow-guard are roguish paladins of Saint Sullivan, the mythological Valousian prophet from aeons past that was said to ascend his mortality and now embodies the moon in the sky, serving the devout from the astral plane alongside his Lord Valous. In secret, they devote their lives to the church as a denomination rarely seen or heard of by commoners, living almost a monkish life in the shadows, they give up their normal lives for their faith.   When the church calls upon the Shadowguard, they act as the hidden blade that assassinates its enemies, or hunts down those deemed heretical by the church that are in favour with the public. Quiet and secretive men and women usually fall into this side of the faith, and although you may pass their faces on the streets, they are masters of being so forgettable that one would never think twice to look at them.
