Aerd

A world of ancient magic and war. The exhausted armies of the Northern Coalition and the Holy Empire of Aerd have ground themselves and the people of the contested lands into the dirt. City states stand in glorious isolation surrounded by the ruins of civilisation. In between the cities are small towns and villages struggling to survive. Bands of mercenaries have taken to banditry to survive whilst fortune hunters search the ruins for abandoned treasures and lost magic. The world is a grim one but one that is ready to make individuals willing to take a risk rich and powerful. But it is also a world looking for heroes to lead it out of the darkness and into the light. The main campaign area of the world of Aerd is similar to Central Europe following the 30 years war with a similar level of technology but with magic as part of normal life. The kingdoms are devastated and as in the historical 30 years war millions have died. The lands between the civilised enclaves are the hunting grounds of bandits, undead and scavengers.
