Mankind

Humans, while currently the dominant race of Aeradhra, were not the world's original inhabitants. Humanity originally arrived from regions to the north and west of Aeradhra many thousands of years ago, almost as though by divine providence. Humanity's first contact with the peoples of the world was cooperative, and the humans settled in regions inhospitable to the other races of the world. They built settlements, cities, kingdoms and, eventually, empires that stretched across vast swathes of the landscape. Upon the arrival of mankind, the gods, who until then had lived peacefully in their corporeal forms among their creations, began to vanish, warning of a great destruction that was to be unleashed upon the realm. These gods, many of whom were revered and worshiped by humans, foresaw the great expansion of humanity across the realm and the destruction of that which once was. The other races were frequently displaced due to human encroachment, and many were drawn into the many wars of the humans, spreading discord and bloodshed throughout the realm. Eventually, when the Twilight of the Gods had ended, the newly dominant human societies and their foreign counterparts were left without guidance. Three men, later to be known as the Prophets, spread their philosophy of the great god Aeleos, who unites all, and desires for the world to become one, for only when there is no Other can the world live at peace.

Humanity typically views the other races of the realm with a high degree of suspicion, preferring to keep to their own kind. It is not uncommon, however, for merchants, statesmen, dignitaries, or those of an occult persuasion to learn the tongues of these other races, do business with them, or even live among them.
