Westport

The first major port-town West of the capital of Goldenhelm. Traditionally held by the House of Webber with close ties of the royal family, its main trade is of resources to and from the Dwarven Lands and the Northern Midlands. Additionally, for more sinister purposes, the port is often the location from where prisoners to be sent to the Chained Isles set sail. Whilst not nearly as strong as that of Newport, the battleships stationed there are known for travelling under much harsher conditions, as the area around the Mountains of The Gods are known to suffer fierce weather year-round. Less flashy than the town to the east of the capital it is always seen as competing with, without much of spice or news from the east, It deals in the more practical necessities of the kingdom, like metals for armour and weaponry, furs, timber, and paper. However, this it makes up for in the wide rolling fields beyond the main town, which is often built into a stage for tourneys of all kinds, making it notable as the place where many knights are made and unmade. In terms of military importance, its navy and control of the western bridges to the Crownlands makes capturing it or assuring the Lord's allegiance is vital when advancing from the west. However, their men-at-arms are not particularly noted for their skill so much as their pageantry and taste for the courtly fashions.
