Gaius takes revenge.

The first one to die in what became a long string of murders was Consul Valerius. When he failed to appear in his office, soldiers were dispatched to his mansion and found a gruesome sight. Blood and devastation covered the manor, with not a single servant or guard in sight. The only body found was that of the Consul himself, but it was not a death of natural means; His corpse was a crippled mess, with sores and open wounds, blood poured from every orifice and his entire body collapsed, as a fruit left in the sun. Emperor Tiberius assured the populace that the murder was a one-time event and that the military soon would have the murderer in custody. Then, another murderer consul. And another. Each time, no bodies except that of the consul: All his men had disappeared. After a year of terror, the families of all the Consuls and the Consuls themselves had been killed. Then, on what became known as the Black Night, all the missing bodies turned up. Horrible, undead creatures marched on the capital city. The generals tried to dispatch the Kaijus to destroy them, but they would not budge. They merely looked on as the undead moved onwards to the Imperial Palace itself. Tiberius could only look on in terror as the creatures beat on his doors and his guards fled. Standing on his balcony, he could finally see the leader of the dead. Though his skin was gray and torn, his eyes merely red dots of raging light and his uniform torn and burned, Tiberius had no doubt of whom it was: Imperator Gaius, returned from the grave. Screaming in fear and overwhelmed with guilt, Gaius leaped from his balcony and to his death on the palace steps. Gaius, the Liche Imperator, knelt at the body and speaking arcane words of power, commanded his old friend to arise before him. There would be no escape for Tiberius, not even in death. And with that, Imperator Gaius left the city, never to return.
