The Creation Of The First Mortals

Celestial

5000

The gods find that Kali has been driven mad. The first mortals are made.

Desiring to place upon the world someone to witness the beauty of their creation, the gods decided to once again make life and so, they went to the mother goddess of Kali. Finding her deep in the depths of Hell, the gods eagerly talked about what new life she would bring forth and how joyful it would be. Kali, however, did not react with joy as they expected. Millenia of war and the loss of her children had changed the once happy and loving goddess into a creature of malice and rage. Upon hearing their words, she flew into a rage, striking out at her fellow gods and it was only through a combined effort from all of them that she was subdued. Sensing that the grief had taken her mind, they chained her to a rock in the depths of Hell and retreated to discuss what to do. The gods still wanted mortals to inhabit their new world, but without their Mother, who would give birth to them? It took many years, but in the end it was decided that the two finest craftsmen of the Gods would shape new life and so, Marduk and Vulcan set about their work.   Taking from Terra a beautiful aspen tree, he fashioned it into the shape of two beautiful creatures. When he was done, took from himself a sliver of his own divine soul and placed into each. They became the very first elves to live on Terra.   Vulcan, too, desired for there to be creatures like himself and he took from Terra a fierce block of stone and fashioned it into the shape of two strong creatures. When he was done, he took a sliver of his own divine soul and placed into each. They became the very first dwarves to live on Terra.   Bacchus, however, was jealous; Why were they given this honor, and not him? Reaching down, he took from Terra a beautiful gemstone and fashioned it into a shape he found to be the most pleasing. When he was done, he took a sliver of his own divine soul and placed it into it. She became the first the Fauns on Terra.    And deep in hell, in the prison of Kali, she struggled. Chained to a rock, she could take nothing from Terra to fashion her own species from. Yet, with her nail, she scratched at the rock. And scratched an scratched, until her finger bled. And with the dust from the rock and her own blood, carrying a sliver of her own soul, she shaped two mighty warriors. They became the first orcs to fight their way out of Hell and on to Terra.
