The Great Mirror

Construction beginning/end

King Hedjet orders the construction of a mirror to contact Ra. It does not go well.

While the pyramids was being built, King Hedjet came to power. He was a descendant of Nemer and was obsessed with the accomplishments the founder of Nemeria had to his name. It was one day, while on top of his royal pyramid, that Hedjet saw the path to his ambition. Nemer had brought Ra to the people and this had brought many blessings, but none had talked to him since.
Deciding that he had to bring a message to Ra, Hedjet ordered a great project of his own to be undertaken. A mirror, large enough to reflect light back to Ra, would be built in the desert. This way, Ra would see the grandiosity of his blessed people!
Hedjet never saw his work finish, dying before it was, but eventually the construction was completed. Covered in dust and sand, the mirror was a full kilometer in diameter and slightly rounded, so as to concentrate any light on it and reflect it back. The day of the revelation came, and all of the royals gathered to watch the unveiling. The Hierophants gathered around Hedjet’s Mirror and, speaking a spell, conjured a great desert wind to blow away the sand.
The sand was carried away and as it was, the rays of the sun was caught in the mirror… Concentrated… And reflected back.
There was not even a scream from those present, such was the power of Ra when gathered by the mirror and released; A brilliant beam of pure light purged all those near it, wiping away the entire first Dynasty.
