The Casualties of War

Disaster / Destruction

2700
1499

The world slowly tries to recover from the war. Àvalon disappears.

While the war was won, it was with heavy casualties. The elves had lost the majority of their race and kingdoms and they never recovered. Even worse, perhaps: After her charge, no one had been able to find Avalon and though reluctantly, her people had to accept that she had died. Before her death, the Elven kingdom was the largest the world had ever seen. She left little behind after her victory. In her memory, the elves renamed the Elven capital to Avalon. Unknowns to them, her death was also the start of the constant decline of the elven kingdoms. With the death of Avalon, leaving too many Heirs to count, the elven kingdoms fell into a brief but bloody civil war, resulting in the creation of dozens of new kingdoms, each harboring some grudges against the others. Over time, all of these would fall, except Avalon itself. The dwarves had lost less in land and people but lost as much in spirit. The dwarves renamed the sky metals to remind themselves of the dead kings: Mithral, Adamantine, and Orichalcum.
