Khonshu Comes

Revolution

1400

The son of Luna, Khonshu, fights to free Helios.

While almost all the Hierophants had been purged, a few had fled into the desert and hid. Time and time again, they had tried to contact Ra, but without luck; He was well and truly bound to the will of Ra-Set. After hundreds of years, the majority of the inhabitants of the hidden temple had given up - All but one: Ptolemy. Each day, Ptolemy would send out prayers to Ra, hoping for an answer. It was during one these prayers that something miraculous and unknown to all of the temple happened: Some sort of darkness came upon the sky and a small, silver disc appeared in place of the sun above the temple. None alive had ever seen such a thing, for there had not been a night for 600 years. Ptolemy stood dumbstruck as a beautiful, pale-skinned woman with silver hair came to him and in the moonlight, she made love to him.
For almost a year, Ptolemy thought that he must have had a loss of senses. Then, darkness descended once again and this time, a small child was placed in Ptolemy’s arms.
The child was named Khonsu and as he grew, he told the Nemerians in the temple of his mother, Luna. Her brother, Helios, whom they called Ra, had been captured and Luna would allow it no longer. If they would swear to free him, Luna would give them her blessings and the power to overthrow Ra-Set.
Having seen the strength and wisdom of Khonsu, none of the people of the temple declined.
Across the lands of Nemeria, Khonsu lead his disciples. Wherever they went, the Moon and Night followed them. Those whom Khonsu had blessed took the shapes of wolves and in the darkness, they hunted those who held Helios prisoner, tearing their flesh.
When they finally arrived at the Great Pyramid, home of Ra-Set, it was a tide of fur and teeth crashing into immortal flesh, as the Luna disciples and the Necrarchs met in bloody battle.
At the very top of the mountain, Khonsu and Ra-Set faced each other. As flashes of sunlight tore through him, Khonsu’s teeth tore into Ra-Set’s skin. While there had been many attempts to assassinate Ra-Set, the teeth of Khonsu was the first to harm him and Ra-Set was struck with horror. He had felt no pain since he had ascended the throne and for a moment, his concentration shook.
And that was all it took.
A burning light exploded from him as Helios tore himself free. His wrath rained down upon all of the Necrarchs, burning them to ash. Ra-Set himself was burned so that only his shadow remained.
Those few Necrachs who escaped hid in the shadow, forced to forever stay there. No longer able to subsist on the light of Helios gifted by Ra-Set, they survive now on blood of mortals as vampiric leeches.
