The Empire Without Borders

Cultural event

1325

The consequences of the destruction of the Taldoran Empire is felt.

With the destruction of Taldor’s central provinces, the survivors in the foreign, conquered lands suddenly found themselves without reinforcements or a command structure and with no empire. While some people simply integrated into whatever cultures they could, many of the survivors continued thinking themselves Taldoran, calling themselves citizens of “The Empire Without Borders. These Taldorans can largely be split into three groups. The merchants and spies banded together to form The Taldoran Guild, the most powerful organized criminal organization on Gaia. The soldiers put their skills to use, becoming the Taldoran Company, mercenaries of the highest caliber. Finally, the Taldoran Fleet became pirates of hitherto unknown might, easily rivaling many of the young countries’ navies. Taldor’s collapse was also the collapse of a singular, powerful church structure. Almost every high ranking member of the clergy had died and the entirety of the hierarchy was torn apart. The churches became dependent on their local lords for protection and increasingly fractured.
