The Assassination of the Imperator

Life, Death

The Imperator is assassinated by Tiberius and dethroned politicians.

While Imperator Gaius perhaps thought that Tiberius was not ready to take over, Tiberius disagreed. When he heard that Gaius was planning to immortalize himself, Tiberius feared that he would never ascend to the throne and became furious. Seeking out the families of those senators Imperator Gaius had killed when he took over the Republic, a conspiracy was born. Money changed hands, plans were made and agents were inserted. Then the day of Gaius’ transference came. When Gaius came to the site of the ritual, he found his old friend Tiberius there, ready to greet his new body. Gaius lay down and the ritual began. It worked, it seemed, but just as the Imperator’s soul vacated his body, Tiberius and the other conspirators jumped into action. Stabbing the wizards performing the ritual, pouring oil on the two bodies and burning them, Tiberius and his fellow assassins did everything they could to disrupt the ritual. Running from the burning building, the assassins disappeared into the night.
