Session 4
General Summary
Gathering their gear, the Huntsmen trekked into the wilderness, towards Cathill Manor. While traveling, they ran into a band of Whitetooth Tribe Goblins, singing and cutting their way through the forest. After a brutal fight, the Huntsmen were victorious.
Arriving at Cathill Manor, the Huntsmen saw that they were too late - The guards had already been overrun and slaughtered. Dead guards and slain gnolls, all of them mostly eaten, lay around the courtyard.
With the entrance guarded by a pack of hyenas, a brutal battle broke out, apparently one loud enough that the gnolls inside could plan an ambush.
Attacking while the group was split up, Franz Rosen was slain - The ax of a gnoll cut into his chest and as blood bubbled from his mouth, he gasped for his last breath.
One man down, the Huntsmen ascended the stairs to a second level. Not wishing to be ambushed, Konstantin Fieldstein lead a search of the rooms on the second level, where a bureau mysteriously came to life and attacked. Once defeated, an imp was revealed to be inside the furniture. After being... Coerced... The imp revealed that it had been sent by its "Master" to gain the The Codex Hereticus.
After smiting the imp, the Huntsmen fled - But in their flight, they saw that the leader of the Roarhowl Pack, Bruah Longspittle, also had fled.
While trying to get back on their feet, the brother of the late Franz Rosen arrived - He had been searching for his brother and with Franz dead, Friedrich was now stuck with the late criminal's significant debt.
While traveling back to Thornwall, the Huntsmen came across a group of Unity Church refugees, traveling north.
Back in Thornwall, the Huntsmen reported their failure to Anthony Santiago who expressed his dismay, but promised that if the Huntsmen needed spiritual guidance, they could always come to him.
