Some Five hundred years ago, the Kingdom of Barion took advantage of a weakened Mithlorian Imperium and seized it's independence. The Dukes, holding great power in the realm nearly tore it apart in the following centuries. Finally, when on the brink of chaos, King Odwyn Howe came to power after his fathers assassination. A charismatic, military genius, the king averted civil war through negotiation and martial displays.   He ushered in five decades of political stability, able to focus the efforts of the kingdom to civil projects, defense against the wild creatures that inhabit the lands as well as keeping the every watchful eye of the Imperium convinced the Kingdom was too hard a target to retake.   It is rumored, however, that the King's health is failing. His eldest daughter, the next in line for the throne is far more blunt then her father and it is thought that if the Dukes decide to press old claims against one another, she would choose to forgo diplomacy all together.
