1492, Year of the Iron Sword

Every twelve years in the Kingdom of Aelding, the country celebrates the Year of the Silver Knight. Heroes of the Realm are appointed from those who have completed good and brave deeds in the past year.   Today marks the first day of the Year of the Iron Sword, one year before the Year of the Silver Knight. You have arrived in the town of Ackborough, where you are to be appointed Squires of the Realm, and formerly set upon the quest of protecting Aelding and its people.   If you can complete enough great tasks and earn the respect of many people, rich and poor, you surely will become the next Silver Knights. Perhaps you are thinking of the glory and honor that comes with such a title, or the fast track to nobility and a position of power; or perhaps you are thinking instead of the generous monthly stipend. Regardless, you pass through the open gates of the market town and beneath the colourful bunting and banners marking today as the first day of the twelfth Year of the Iron Sword - the first day of your quest.
