Viridian Conservatory

Nestled in a valley in the Hollow Heights foothills known as the Whimsical Valley, the Viridian Conservatory is foremost center for the research and application of magic. Its full title is"The Imperial Viridian Conservatory of the Arcane Arts, Spellcasting Disciplines and Magical Advancement", though nobody in casual conversation ever refers to it by this name - drunk or bored students have even been known to try and come up with even longer names for the Conservatory.
The region is charged with volatile magical energy, though it's unclear whether this was caused by the presence of the Conservatory or is the reason it was built there to begin with. This has led to spellcasting in the area to be heavily regulated and monitored by the Conservatory's staff, in an effort to keep things under control. The fabric of reality in the Whimsical Valley occasionally undergoes periods of instability, which can be fascinating to study - if somewhat hazardous.
The students of the Viridian Conservatory are a varied lot, with one's abilities and knowledge held in far more importance than age, gender, or race.
It is mostly wizards who study there, though the Conservatory has the occasional artificer who wishes to advance their own kind of studies, and even some spellcasters of entirely different persuasions find a semester or two at the Conservatory worth their time and money. The full course of studies, advancements and degrees, however, is centered around the purely arcane.
