Hope's Gate
Aeash was not always peaceful. In the immediate aftermath of the Lullaby War, tensions were high - half the world was still recovering from the horrors of war, and the other half saw more reason to hinder than to help. The nascent Empire, still in the early stages before it had gained true recognition as a nation of its own, erected outposts at the land borders with each of its neighbours to protect itself.
To the northeast, Hope's Gate is nestled in a mountain pass leading north to and east to . It gained its name due to being a prominent waypoint for refugees during the Lullaby War sheltering under the mountains and travelling through them from to reach . Part of Hope’s Gate spans underground, marking one of the few safe points in the Hollow Heights tunnel network. It’s quite common for guards posted there to go days without seeing sunlight as a result.
