About Esterbridge

Founded by the von Rosen family, named for the eldest daughter of the founder, Esterbridge is a city of luxury and wealth. It is built primarily of stone and wood, with the city layout being a maze of curving streets and seemingly endless chains of side streets leading into alleys leading to other streets in a system that seems designed to bewilder travelers.

About the von Rosen Family

The von Rosen manor lies outside Esterbridge itself, a short distance to the east. The family are fond of hosting extravagant parties, invitations to which are highly coveted and jealously guarded. Lady Dahlia von Rosen is a collector with a wide range of tastes, willing to add any sort of decor to the halls of the manor - from jewelry to weapons. There are those who whisper - outside of the von Rosen’s earshot, of course - that Dahlia’s collection even includes people.
Her teenaged daughter, Viola von Rosen, has tyrannised the staff of the manor for years with her magical powers; one such torment included animating a hedge maze to eat her parents’ guests, and the most recent of which culminated in polymorphing all the guests of the spring ball and burning down the manor itself. Viola von Rosen's current whereabouts are unknown.

Industry & Trade

Esterbridge is a city of decadence, with boutiques of expensive clothing, jewelry and flowers, but businesses here live and die by the opinion of the von Rosens - they set the local trends, and their attention can make or break anyone or anything within the city walls.

Architecture

The city earns its name from the latticework of flowers that form a roof over the majority of Esterbridge’s streets, leading the cobbles to be constantly strewn with petals of all shapes and colours. This lattice was installed by request of Ester von Rosen herself, the city's namesake, who found the stone city otherwise a dreary and depressing place.
