The Society for Exploring Boundaries

The Society for Exploring Boundaries is seeking new members to assist in pushing past the edges of the map! We seek adventurous souls to help us fight past the monsters that keep us from finding the Keys of Creation hidden at the edges of the world by the Creator. Not up to personal exploration? No fear! We need plenty of help with financing expeditions, searching through old maps, and creating pamphlets to raise public awareness of our quest. Contact Grand President Coriander Chloriosus at the Redbeard Tavern to join today! Meetings held weekly at Raven's Teahouse and Bookstore.

Structure

The Society has a Grand President, President, Vice-President, Presidential Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-Treasurer, and Bob, who's too busy to hold an office.

Public Agenda

The group advocates for exploration in the interests of expanding maps and locating what they refer to as the Keys of Creation, artifacts allegedly left by the Creator that when discovered will unite the human race in an era of prosperity and infinite understanding.

Assets

Not much.

History

The organization was started about two years ago when Grand President Coriander Chloriosus was inspired by reading an account of the Wellton Expedition and Barleycorn's Tales of the Far Reaches in the same week. He interpreted one of the Tales as a cryptic reference to artifacts left behind by the Creator, and eventually dredged up a few lines from Wespergius' Chronicles to support this idea. Now the society consists of Coriander's friends, who mostly argue about books and try to scrape up enough money to finance an expedition of their own. The money never seems to accumulate though -- probably because they spend it on weekly tea parties.

Mythology & Lore

Barleycorn's Tales of the Far Reaches provides an account of a gemstone encased in ice at the absolute northmost edge of the continent. This gem, according to myths passed down through the ages, was left by the Creator to mark the northern edge of Creation. Barleycorn speculated that the gem served to hold back dark forces, from which Coriander inferred that this gem must have powerful properties, and that there must be similarly powerful relics demarcating all the edges of the map. After perusing Wespergius' Chronicles, he found a reference to "the Creator's thumbprint at the ocean's well," a reference to the volcanic ridge found in the middle of the Eastern Ocean. This, decided Coriander, was evidence for boundary relics left by the Creator. The society is therefore determined to discover and unite all these relics, for surely items of such power would together bring about a golden age for humanity.
