General Research Boon (Upgradable)

They say knowledge is power. The librarian Hansiq bin Fatima is trying to stretch that as far as he can get it. He's got some mediocre texts in his opinion, but Hansiq is craving for more, and he's willing to share some of his knowledge with you if you help him out. For the modest investment you choose one the following options if you decide to participate in the Library activity during your downtime:
  • LvL: 0 - Research use investigation checks to look up information
  • LvL: 1 - (400 gp) + Quest Gain: Ability to Rent Reference Material
  • For 25 GP, you rent an uncommon book and gain +1d4 Arcana/Investigation on one intelligence Non Combat skill checks during the session.
  • LvL: 2 - (1500 gp) + Quest Gain: Ability to Rent Reference Material
  • For 25 GP, you rent a rare book and gain +1d6 Arcana/Investigation on two intelligence Non Combat skill checks during the session.
  • For 50 GP, you rent a rare book and gain +1d6 Arcana/Investigation on three intelligence Non Combat skill checks during the session.

Craft Tarot Cards of Arcana - [Item Creation] You can create a major arcana for use with tarot magic. Benefit: Allows you to imbue a card with a specific spell. This forgoes the need to prepare it as you are considered prepared to cast it if the card is on your person. Each major arcana card requires 2,000 gp of inks and material to craft, and takes at least 16 hours to complete. When the tarot is completed, the tarot caster must make a craft (tarot) check with a DC of 15. If successful, the card now carries the magic necessary for the tarot caster to cast certain spells. If unsuccessful, the caster must start over and the time and materials are lost.  

Scroll Stations

Creation +2 Scroll Storing - You carefully prepare a runic array on a blank scroll, which glows for a moment once complete.

You create a scroll that can store one object. You can spend an action to press an object against the scroll. The object disappears and a runic representation of it appears on the scroll. This cannot affect objects that are held by another creature or fixed in place (such as a wielded weapon or a door), but it can store a collection of similar objects held in a container (such as a bag of gold or a cabinet of mundane household items.) Retrieving the item takes a standard action and a command word. The object appears in an adjacent square, then the scroll crumbles to dust. The weight of a scroll, either blank or storing an object, is negligible. The Arcana check result determines the maximum weight of the object that can be stored in the scroll.

Spellbooks

Standard Spellbook - Essential for wizards, a spellbook is a leather-bound tome with 100 blank vellum pages suitable for recording spells. Each spell takes up one page per spell level (one page each for 0-level spells). Cost: 50 gp, Weight: 3 lb.  

Magi Student Only Books

Adept Book of (Choose School) - Uncommon 400 gp - (Requires Attunement)
Once attuned treat this book as the under the bound weapon spell, the book must be in use to reap the benefits, and the book floats 360 degrees around the caster without having to be held. Another creature must use an action to grasp or net the floating book to separate it from you, either by making a successful Attack roll against AC 16 or a successful DC 16 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check.
  • Adept Empowerment: +1 to hit, and Damage Spells of your school.
  • Ritual Specialization: Choose 1 ritual when you make this choice 1 time per transcription which is 100gp worth of materials. You may cast this spell as a single action so long as you are not in combat.
Expert Book of (Choose School) - Rare 4000 gp -(Requires Attunement)
Once attuned treat this book as the under the bound weapon spell, the book must be in use to reap the benefits, and the book floats 360 degrees around the caster without having to be held. Another creature must use an action to grasp or net the floating book to separate it from you, either by making a successful Attack roll against AC 16 or a successful DC 16 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check.
  • Expert Empowerment: +2 to hit, and Damage Spells of your school.
  • Expert Caster: While you maintain concentration on a spell, you have a +1 bonus to AC and all saving throws.
  • Expert Cantrip Caster: Allows you to cast any cantrip of the books school as a level 1 spell. You can pass a DC 14 intelligence check, If you fail the spell fails and you lose that spell slot, action, reaction, or bonus action for your turn.
  • Arcane Specialist: After you complete a long rest, choose a spell from among the spells you know & from your school. Until your next long rest, you can cast this spell by expending a 1 level lower spell slot (minimum of 1st level spell slot) and you gain a bonus of +2 to spell attack roll / spell saving throw check for this spell. This spell can only be cast once with this ability.
Master Books (Choose School) - Very Rare 40,000 gp - (Requires Attunement)
Once attuned treat this book as the under the bound weapon spell, the book must be in use to reap the benefits, and the book floats 360 degrees around the caster without having to be held. It is a minor action to manipulate it’s position. Another creature must use an action to grasp or net the floating book to separate it from you, either by making a successful Attack roll against AC 18 or a successful DC 18 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check.
  • Expert Empowerment - +3 to hit, and Damage Spells of your school.
  • Book of Holding - This book has an interior space considerably larger than it’s outside dimension, roughly 2 ft in diameter as the mouth and 4 ft deep. The book can hold up to 500 lbs regardless of it’s contents. To access this space one must open the book to the middle otherwise this acts like a very rare spellbook.
  • Master Casting - When you cast a spell that deals damage, you can add your spellcasting ability modifier to the damage roll if you don't already. If the spell has multiple damage rolls, such as the eldritch blast cantrip, you add your spellcasting ability modifier to each damage roll.
  • Master Cantrip Caster - Allows you to cast any cantrip of the books school if you can pass a DC 10 intelligence check. If you fail the spell fails and you lose that action, reaction, or bonus action.
  • Signature Spell - Allows you fully master 1 signature spell to be quick reference within this book. You make this choice 1 time per transcription which is 100gp worth of materials. When you do you may cast it 1xINT mod ignoring material components.
