ADVENTURE BRUNCH #50 - 10/24/20 - Summers Arsenal

General Summary

Our adventurers were enjoying some much-needed downtime in Veriscali--fixing armor, making sure Jingles restocked with lots and lots of arrows, following up on Methty and Hadija's disappearance through the bleeding mirror... the usual--when a very surprised Zura ran into her older elf brother Taliseron! He had tracked her down after purchasing the Stonemason's Companion at auction and finding out that his own sister had picked up this perfect gift for him and sold it instead!   Catching up, Zura learned from Talisaron that their mother plans on visiting in 1 month! Not wanting to be found an inadequate soon-to-be magus of her Tower, she determined that clearing another Furbolg tunnel and perhaps the "Sanctuary" would go a little ways towards showing her mother that she was getting shit done. Talisaron was very interested in the "Sanctuary" and agreed to join in the adventure.   Zura, Talisaron, Cyrus, Jingles, and Shakkax (back from Fort Dragonsbreath) made the (still dangerous) trek out to Zura's Tower, along the way stumbling across a large and heavily wounded albino scorpion surrounded by many Black Court Drow corpses and which turned out to have a white cast-iron cauldron with a note for Zura.   Upon arriving at the Tower, Cyrus helped Zura diffuse tensions between Effendi Al-Bakr, visiting to oversee the restoration of the Tree, and Hanje. Nothing was destroyed... yet... but both are a little too eager to be in the Immortal Ruffio's company, and the Immortal wants nothing to do with either at the moment! The Immortal was interested in the items the adventurers brought him, but he has a lot on his plate at the moment! He HAS, however, completed the Sun Forge!   Before leaving for the Valley of the Two Sages, Hanje mentioned there were lots of undead around and a powerful vampire deep in the woods so the adventurers travelled quickly and quietly under Jingle's "Pass without a Trace" spell, and were sure they weren't very close to that particular danger... for now. When they met up with the Timbermaw Furbolg Clan, and they continued to a new tunnel--the one leading towards the Sanctuary and the Fire Spire.   The furbolg tunnel was much the same as the first, however there was a host of shadowy flying monkey creatures in the central "meeting space," which the adventurers almost fought, but decided to sneak past per Taliseron's good advice that not every obstacle needs to be slain. At the end of the tunnel, the group found another wide, blighted landscape. A structure in the distance pulled at Zura's memory, and she led everyone to an abandoned building to find an incorporeal and fading hummingbird (just like Anu's Madame Dutchess!) and another underground tunnel...   Hours of underground trekking later, the group found themselves beset by an upside-down interior filled with a mysterious, invisible guardian who pelted them with magic and taunting words. While trying to navigate the space safely via Taliseron's summoned griffon, Zura defied all sense and jumped into a black pool of shadow & mist... to find the right arm / gauntlet of the Sunmaker her patron! The group also found a "central navigation room" of the space and Taliseron was able to rotate the structure so the group could walk right-side on the ground instead of trying to climb walls or fly. Defeating the rest of the undead who converged around them and the "room", the group caught their mysterious foe, who turned out to be a small Gazer--it made a pact with Taliseron and is now called "Timay". Timay will protect and guard the space for Taliseron and the adventurers now.   There were more interesting things to be found in the abandoned Ayarra bunker, including a living copper statue of... someone of House Vachon, perhaps? Zura also found materials to forge (and reforge) sunblades and House Thurshak weapons! While everyone agreed a nice, long rest was necessary before moving on, they first took a quick look at the "secret lever" that Timay told them about... and stumbled across another Famorian!   This Famorian was even larger than the last one... and the group quietly snuck back to the bunker for that long rest!
