After the excitement (and many near-death experiences) of the last few months, Zura and Jingles took a few weeks to relax and rejuvenate, and stare at their new, magical bows... Once their magical abilities and potential were unlocked, they felt ready to seize the day—and scout the other ley line.
Faoche tasked Jingles with bringing her 10 skulls from skeletons plaguing the southern woods, so he was willing to go on another adventure with Zura and just scout. They brought Shakax and Hadija, and the timing was perfect as both Zura and Hadija were starting to stalk Lia the Houri around the Tower compound...
Setting off, Jingles quickly got them lost in the woods. As the cold mist crept in, so did the sounds of the undead... suddenly aware of the potential danger, Jingles opened his kitty nostrils and smelled 100 undead buttholes(!), a few abyssal creatures, and a fiend.
Right then, an invisible force grabbed Jingles from the tree where he was perched, and a creepy skeletal being with blue fire appeared beside Zura! She immediately thrust up her sword (DAWNBREAKER! HO!) and created a large dome of light. As the gloom in the immediate area dispersed, everyone could see Jingles being held by what looked like a large dead ephemeral hand.
The skeletal being yelled in Zura’s face terrifying her and she booked it. Shakax freaked out too but ran in the other direction! Feeling brave, Hadija sprinted—screaming—towards the monster...and summer stepped at the last minute to singe it and reappear high up (near Jingles) in the tree clutching the large trunk. Still screaming, she stretched out one hand and cast fire bolt at the giant hand, making it explode in goop all over Jingles, who nimbly landed back on a tree limb grasping it in his kitty claws. He also evaded a barrage of red slugs thrown at him by the monster below, and pelted it with arrows—killing it dead!
Zura came back to herself in the middle of gloom, and turned to find the large dome of light where her companions were—and was impaled from behind by a ephemeral large hand which came out from her sternum and gripped her face! She summer stepped away and dashed back to the dome of light.
Zura successfully made it back and heard the sound of many chains and metal armor around the perimeter of light, but couldn’t see past the dome. She also heard Shakax hustling back too. The two of them prepared to take a stand against the monsters.
Only Jingles could see, but a ring of undead were slowly encroaching upon the dome. There was also the floating purple shadow being which had followed Zura back to the dome, and a large dark creature chasing Shakax, both of which he pelted with arrows from his new spider bow. Jingles killed both creatures, but the undead skeletons started entering the dome of light!
Jingles, Hadija, Zura, and Shakax fought hard and brought down many skeletons, but they were getting overwhelmed. Suddenly, a golden light shone beside them and a Spirit of Valor appeared, swinging a great axe and cleaving the skeletons into pieces!
A Summer elf on a flying broom also appeared, and helped the party crush the remaining undead. Afterwards, she created a healing circle for the party and then did a ritual (which Zura tried to see but the broom repeatedly brandished itself in her face and slapping her away from said ritual) and somehow absorbed the Spirit into her body. She and Zura spoke briefly; her name is Hanje.
Hadija had come through the battle miraculously unscathed, until she fell down from the tree. She, Jingles, Zura, and Shakax healed up in the circle and regrouped for part deux...
