Character Synopsis

After touring the country in place of Amicus, Virginia invites the Khemian prince, Neferu, to the palace to stay for a while ostensibly as a goodwill gesture for the ambassador. Virginia tells Cassius that she is neutral in the conflict between her brother's for the emperorship but reveals to Marco after the second trial that she intends to become an adviser to the emperor and believed Amicus would give her a better shot at power. After Amicus is imprisoned, Virginia helps Marco get a hearing with emperor Cassius who reluctantly grants him visitation rights to Amicus, asking Marco to put in a good word with Amicus about her desire to become chief adviser who enthusiastically agrees, surprising her with his immediate agreement. In the following weeks Virginia plots with Marco and Neferu to have Cassius step down from the throne. Virginia escorts Marco to the Archives after they are granted access and shows him how to use them. After a night of celebration on the day before Cassius steps down, Virginia and Marco are invited to a surprise breakfast meeting by Cato. Cato poisons Cassius before he is able to step down and Virginia rushes to Cassius to save him. She is forced into plans for an arranged marriage between her and Cato in the hours following the assassination attempt. She is witness to the events of Neferu's near execution and the fight to the death between Cato and Amicus.   After Amicus becomes emperor she is instated as chief adviser to the emperor, a role she enthusiastically takes to an almost extreme degree. In the months between Amicus becoming emperor and Marco leaving on his mission, she works hard to improve the empire. In the early morning of Marco's last day she and Marco run into each other in the garden's where they discuss their friendship, or the lack thereof, and Virginia discuses her past as a daughter of the emperor and the differences in how she was raised compared to Amicus and Cassius. She explains that she trusts no one, especially males, due to power dynamics of Wolven society but plans to work close with Marco upon his return.
