Alexios

An Omorfan ambassador to the Wolven in the visual novel, Alexios is one of the first aliens that Marco has a meaningful conversation with and is considered Cassius's pet by the Wolven. As an Omorfan cat-like sapient Alexios is considered an oddity on the moon of Adastra and has both ambassadorial responsibilities as well as Wolven pet responsibilities at the palace.   As the novel progresses Alexios offers helpful advice to Marco but is not entirely truthful about everything leading the Marco to question where his true loyalties lie.

Character Synopsis

Alxeios is introduced to Marco during Marco's first breakfast serving the Wolven residents of the Palace as a pet. Alexios shoes Marco around the palace as well as discusses his pet duties and provides much of the exposition for the moon of Adastra and the politics that Marco comes to encounter. A few days after arriving to Adastra Marco, Alexios and Amicus visit the island in the middle of the lake. Marco jumps into the lake and both Alexios and Amicus rush to help him, assuming he cannot swim. The lake outing takes too long and Amicus is beaten by Cato for being late which Marco and Alexios witness. As the days go by, Marco spends much of his time at the palace gardening with Alexios.   Alexios participates with Cassius in the Trial of Music and Dance and outperforms Amicus and Marco. Marco remarks that their dance suggested there seemed to be more between them then Alexios was telling him. After the trial, Marco and Alexios continue to talk in the gardens and Alexios offers Marco some helpful information to relay to Amicus for the next trial. After Marco serves Cassius and Virginia during their discussion about the triumvirates. Marco tells Alexios and Amicus what he hears which comes back to bite him later when rumors begin to spread of Cassius's plans.   After the Trial of Rhetoric and Marco's recovery from his coma, Alexios is the first person he meets upon his revival. Initially frightened, Alexios begins asking more and more probing questions into the events leading up to Marco's "death." Marco and Amicus are caught by Cato the next day and Marco's first contact status becomes known to everyone. Cato mentions Alexios's name in his revelation dialogue.   After the events of the staged Trial of Combat and Amicus's imprisonment, Marco finds Alexios in the gardens and chases him down in the Baths, accidentally injuring Alexios. Marco confronts Alexios for telling Cato of his revival and spreading the rumor of the triumvirates, but follow up questions from Alexios makes Marco question his resolve on the accusations. Relations between the two severely cool after this encounter.   After Marco finds Cassius high on somni and meets with the Monitor for the first time, he begins following Alexios because of his suspscions. Marco watches Alexios take a Sightseer to the island in the lake and reports back to Neferu. Both characters then go to the island and confront Alexios for his suspicious behavior. Alexios struggles with Neferu but then submits after Marco finds the communication device that Alexios place within a tree on the island. Embittered by Marco and Neferu, Alexios lays into Neferu about his position in the politics of Khemia and his precarious position on Adastra. Marco and Neferu demand Alexios grant them access to the archives and threaten to tell Cassius of Alexios's betrayal before leaving him which he grants three days later.   Alexios is present when Cassius agrees to think about stepping down as emperor due to pressure from Virginia, Neferu and Marco. The next morning Cato calls a surprise breakfast and poisons Cassius before he can announce that he is stepping down. Alexious rushes to Cassius yelling that Cato took it too far. Cato punches Alexios and throws him against the opposing wall. Marco is detained but escapes from Amicus's room and finds Alexios worrying about his actions and his future. Marco threatens to beat him for telling Cato and demands Alexios let Marco into the dungeons and release Amicus. Alexios makes Marco promise him that Marco will not allow him to die or be executed for his actions and follows him to the dungeons where he frees Amicus.   After Cato dies and Amicus becomes emperor, Alexios is banished from the palace and resides in Adastra City where Cassius continues seeing him. Months go by, Alexios accompanies Cassius on a long trip to the cities of Adastra and Amicus and Marco come to meet them and bring them back to Adastra City. Marco laments the friendship lost with Alexios but also recognizes that he would never forgive him for betraying him and Amicus. The night before Marco is to leave on his mission, Cassius, clearly drunk, and Alexios walk through the halls of the palace and run into Marco despite the banishment. Marco questions Alexios about his motives for being in the palace and a drunk Cassius tells him that they are there to steal the emperor's ship to go to Omorfa. Alexios pulls Cassius away angrily as Cassius also reveals the Omorfans are now working against the parents.
