Goliath Mountains
Geography
Located to the northwest of the continent of Vaplall, it cuts off human exploration to the northwest. These mountains shoot like spikes out of the ground. Many paladins describe it as looking similar to their visions of Mount Celestia, and thus the tallest mountain in the range is named Mount Celestia. Most of the mountains are 3+ miles tall, with many layered plateaus on the side, however they are very hard to climb due to the near straight up climb from plateau to plateau. Cutting through the middle is the Goliath River, which is a major transportation river and is the only easy way to go north, as its currents are slow enough that a boat can sail againt them.
Ecosystem
The environment is dominated by the goliath, who live dominantly up here. They hunt the local fauna, such as sheep and rams, wolves, bears, coyotes, cougars and other mountain dwelling creatures. Mostly the organization is dictated by how high up you are. There are fewer life forms up at the tops of the mountains. Towards the bottom you'll find many people, goliaths and humans alike.
Localized Phenomena
A strange phenomena is the tier the mountains seem to have. These mountains are seen as holy sites of the gods of celestia, as they resemble it, so many religious processions take place here.
Fauna & Flora
I have described fauna already, however I have not described the flora. The flora consists mostly of lichens and pine trees, and at the lower parts there are many types of fungus that grow on the rock faces.
Natural Resources
There was gold deep within the mountains one, though this was exploited by the humans and now is gone. Not much of value remains in the mountains, although this remained unknown, many dwarves were the miners for the Dotskish Empire. These dwarves were led by the Duergar clan chief, Ladueger. The reason many of the miners went missing was because the Mind Flayers ruled the underdark and much of the upworld during this time. They enslaved many creatures, and turned these dwarves into the now evil duergar.
History
Originally the goliaths moved there after the fall of the giants empire, staying uncontacted for tens of thousands of years before contact was made. They were what kept the mountain in order, and are believed to be what carved them that way.
Tourism
This place is heavily visited by followers of the 7 gods of Celestia. There are many religious settlements are temples around the base, but it is forbidden for them to climb it. These beliefs come from the fact that they have not died yet, and thus they cannot ascend to the 7 heavens of Celestia. The only who are permitted is if they are on a pilgrimage to the top for the path to priesthood.
