Islu
Islu is a large city located on a floating island. Due to this, it's rather hard to access, which is a fact utilised by Islutians to aid them with the war.
The city is spread across the whole island, and is subject to overcrowding, as there's a limited amount of space available. A waterfall provides the only means off the island naturally, which isolates the people on the island. It is unknown how people first populated Islu, however, the only safe way off is via airships.
The people of Islu have, however, gained control of a smallish ground island, known as the downlands. This can be reached via airship, and its years as a dock for ground ships, which otherwise wouldn’t be able to dock in Islus territory.
Demographics
Most of the people in Islu are quite poor. The price of basic living stuff, like food, is very high. The prices can even rocket due to someone building a house. Materials are also scarce, meaning that most people live many people to a house.
Defences
An upside down building is used as a defence tower, with guards stationed there to intercept and fire upon any non-Islutian ships.
Infrastructure
The dockyards are probably the most important part of Islu, as they adore people to leave the island.
The clock tower is another important building. Although the babe tower is a bit of a misnomer, as it is surrounded on all sides by buildings, except for the clock face.
Guilds and Factions
The southern half, with the river, is controlled by a gang of people, known as the Serries.
Architecture
Islu's architecture is often descirbed as compact and, informally, 'higgeldy-piggeldy'. Buildings are built right next to each other, on top of each other, under each other, down the sides of the island, underneath the island, and, of course, on top of the island. There is very little open space, in fact, there is none, now. The tops of buildings, those without any on them, are the only open spaces you'll see, and are utilised as farms, orchards and parks... Until someone builds on them.
Islu has no modern style of architecture, with people building their own houses where they want. Older buildings have some... Styling... To them, however this is not that good, and even then was built to minimise the space the building took up.
That being said, there are many important buildings on Islu. The dockyards, where the airships are docked when not in use, are an example of possibly the most important buildings on Islu, allowing people to leave. They have been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times.
Building materials are normally wood. The wood no longer comes from trees, at least, not from Islu. Wood is instead stolen, or comes from smaller plants. This increases the mismatched look of buildings.
Richer people, who can adored to do so, sometimes stain their walls with colours from flowers and fruits.
Geography
The island is a floating island, with the exception of the down lands, which, arguably, isn’t part of Islu. The mainland is about 10’ deep at the edges, increasing to 50’ in the centre. Some rivers run through it, and there is a lake. There is very little free spaces now, though, due to increasing population.
It is unknown how the island got there, just that it did.
Natural Resources
Stone from the ground (depleted)
Wood from bushes and plants (rare, often useless)
Fruit and vegetables from roofs (if you’re lucky)
meat from animals (don’t ask which)
