Strategos

Deriving it's name from the ancient Greek word for general, the Strategos of Actium is the highest ranking officer of the Actium Federation Military, and in recent years also serves as leader of Actium. The job originally involved the managing and organizing of all branches of the military and coordinating military actions. The office of Strategos began during the founding days of the Actium Federation, in which representatives from each major settlement on Actium came together to discuss how to handle the threat of the tribal raiders, and more importantly how to prevent future infighting among the humans of the newly settled world. Together, they merged their separate city states into a unified, representative government, headed by a High councilor elected from among the representatives of each settlement. They also created the Federal Army of Actium, with General Hamza Aydın, veteran of the great war, as acting Strategos. Under orders from the High Councilor and the Senate, He lead Federal forces in the war against the Mongol and Turkic nomads who had began to raid settlements from the inhospitable outlands. With the tribal defeat at the battle of Ishmael's valley, the first tribal war was ended by the hands of a Strategos. Strategos Aydin would also serve in the war against the remnants of American, Chinese, and Indian militaries. He would die in office.
Following Aydin, there have been 47 Strategi. The most notable among them being Strategos Yi Jiang, who seized emergency power in a popular uprising immediately following the start of the Dern war, and his successor, Strategos Charles Lee. today, the office of the Strategos holds immense power, only rivaled by that of the Senate
