Acrin

Fate and Destiny are the two dominant and guiding principals within the world of Acrin. Destiny plans for someone's future and Fate guides them towards that future. But, despite all of their power and influence on the world at large, there are many who would deny their calls. Destiny would see a common farmhand become a king, ruling over many others who are just like he once was, and Fate would see that his home is burned by marauding soldiers of an enemy nation at war. But it is his choice to take up the blade. His choice to join the fight against them and prove his strength. But it is also his choice to refuse that calling, and instead slink away into obscurity within the protection of city walls, begging for scraps just to get by.   Destiny has foretold the rise of a great empire, with many allies united under one banner in the name of peace and prosperity, wealth and fortune, even glory and fame. But that Empire has yet to take shape, as Fate has only just begun its reach out into the world, to pluck the strings of Acrin's denizens, seeking those who would follow it.   Acrin is a Grimdark Steampunk setting designed for D&D 5e where Magic and Technology collide in brilliant and deadly outcomes. Where the high walls of cities guard the greedy and power hungry citizens within from the dangerous and hungry beasts beyond. Rolling forests and high mountains are home to many a foul and deadly creature and many of the world's citizens struggle to get by. Political strife and religious tensions mount each day as different factions vie for control over one another, seeking that ever elusive chapter within the pages of history.   Wars erupt and die suddenly, leaving bloody fields and burned villages in their wake as every King in the lands seeks their own legacy, following Fate's hand towards their Destiny. But who will stand victorious and who will be lost is anybody's guess. Acrin is calling on you, will you answer her? Or will you join the countless before you whose names shall never be remembered by history?
